What to do with a broken purse
So your favorite bag is busted. It happens to the best of them. What can you do to salvage the still-useful parts of your broken arm candy?
*If the strap is broken
Cut or unhook the torn strap from the body of your purse and toss it. Then, if your bag is still in good shape, you can simply cart it around as a clutch. Or you can simply tack or nail the strapless bag to your wall for use as a stylish storage unit for letters, magazines, or whatever needs stashing. This works especially well for military and messenger bags.
*If the bag has holes in it
If you’re a bohemian type and your bag is made of a soft material, get your needle and thread out and patch that thing up! You can use cute patches from craft and fabric stores, or simply use any old scrap fabric you have lying around.
*If the bag is beyond repair, but the strap is OK and detachable
If your bag is a lost cause but it has an adjustable strap you can unhook, use it as a stylish and unique belt! This only works with certain straps, of course, but if yours is the right length and it has hooks that can latch together, you’re in luck. Here’s a picture to show you what I’m talking about.
The most important thing to remember is that we’re in a recession…waste not, want not, and all of that. Once you start looking at things you’re prepared to toss as having salvageable parts, a whole world of creative possibilities will open up to you.
